“Our Yoyogi comrade was released, but our Shinjuku comrade’s detention was unjustly extended for another 9 days!”

May 20, 2011

The following is Seki Rankai’s translation of this update.

I want to protest freely.

Today, May 18, marked the end of the initial detention period, and our Yoyogi comrade was released.  However, our Shinjuku comrade has been slapped with an additional nine days of incarceration.  Police and prosecutors are vying for a forced confession and menacing family, coworkers, and friends who have no connection whatsoever to the alleged facts, making further violations of human rights likely.

The Rescue Committee strongly protests the prolonged detention of our Shinjuku comrade and demands [her/his] immediate release.  We will not accept the collusion of police, prosecutors, and courts!  Stop using imprisonment to harass us!
